One of the biggest items in the budget for any fly drive holiday in the USA is the flight prices. As a service to site users, uk-2-usa.com conducted flight prices survey every month through the summer of 2003. The flight prices were obtained approximately 6 weeks before the potential flight time. This survey will give you a better understanding of how much quotes can vary from different companies, it will also show how much they vary by month of travel.

Flight prices for June 2003

All prices were obtained from the search facilities accessed via the sites online quote page. The quotes are for a return adult fare on 14th June 2003 returning on 21st June 2003 and are inclusive of tax.

The cheapest quote for each route is highlighted in red and this clearly demonstrates that it pays to shop around !

Flight prices for July 2003

When compared with the flight prices for June 2003 you can clearly see the seasonal effect on prices with the total average return fare for June being �399.77 and for July being �557.94.

Its a switch around in terms of best performance with Junes overall cheapest quotes from opodo and Julys being from ebookers with travel4less coming 2nd both times. However, the message is still clearly to shop around for the best bargain because the cheapest company for one route is probably not the cheapest company for a different route.

Flight prices for August 2003

When compared with the flight prices for the previous two months you can clearly see the seasonal effect on prices with the total average return fare for June being �399.77, for July being �557.94 and for August being �577.

These prices are for a return adult fare including all taxes departing on 13th August, returning on 20th August.

Ebookers almost swept the board this time for the cheapest flights. However, the underlying message is still to shop around for the best bargain because the cheapest company for one route is probably not the cheapest company for a different route when you look at all 3 surveys.

Flight prices for September 2003, surveyed August 2003

The following table shows the latest comparison between the three internet companies featured on the site. All prices were obtained from the search facilities accessed via the website. The quotes are for a return adult fare on 17th September 2003 returning on 24th September 2003 and are inclusive of tax.

When compared with the flight prices for the previous months you can clearly see the seasonal effect on prices with the total average return fare for June being �399.77, for July being �557.94, for August being �577 and now September at �418.

These prices are for a return adult fare including all taxes departing on 17th September, returning on 24th September.

An additional company - Expedia (at the suggestion of a newsletter reader) also features in this months survey and they came straight in in first place just pipping Travel4less. Ebookers who almost swept the board last time for the cheapest flights just came in with one cheapest flight this time.

This survey yet again gives the message to shop around for the best bargain because the cheapest company for one route is probably not the cheapest company for a different route when you look at all the surveys. This months survey shows how to get savings of �24 per adult flying London to Orlando, �45 London to Denver, �38 London to San Francisco, �37 Manchester to Orlando, �26 Manchester to Denver and �37 per adult Manchester to San Francisco !

These prices are for a return adult fare including all taxes departing on 15th October, returning on 22nd October.

Honours even this time with Expedia, Ebookers and Travel4less each having 2 of the cheapest flights. Again the underlying message is still to shop around for the best bargain because the cheapest company for one route is probably not the cheapest company for a different route when you look at all of these surveys.

Flight prices for November 2003, surveyed October 2003

The seasonal effect on prices is again strongly in evidence with the total average return fares:-
for June being �399.77,
for July being �557.94
for August being �577,
for September being �418,
for October being �362, and
for November coming in at �294

The prices in this months survey are for a return adult fare including all taxes departing on 19th November, returning on 26th November.

Opodo comes out on top this month with the biggest number of cheapest fares and the lowest overall cost for the basket of flights studied. e-bookers search engine would not respond when the survey was conducted and so they are not included.

Once again the underlying message is to shop around for the best bargain because the cheapest company for one route is probably not the cheapest company for a different route as shown every month by these surveys.
