Fort Laramie (the historical monument not the town of the same name) was somewhere we saw on the map as we were driving and decided to stop and see. We were so pleased we did.
Much of the Fort remains as it was when this was the far western outpost of the USA. In particular the troopers dormitary with all the cavalry kit laid out was a real connection to the times I had only really seen in cowboy films before. If you get chance visit here for an hour or two.
