Devils Tower. You may not recognise the name but you will recognise the place from its pivotal role in the film " Close encounters of the third kind" where it was the place that people saw in their dreams and where the alien spacecraft came to. I thought it was a Hollywood fabrication until I saw it on the map.

This is a must see place if you are in Northeast Wyoming or the Black Hills area of South Dakota. It is in fact the lava plug of an ancient volcano where the lava cooled slowly and formed vertically aligned hexagonal crystals. The cone of the volcano has been eroded away over time leaving this apparently sculpted rock. Its nice to see and walk around the base of and for the more adventurous and experienced rock climbers a hell of a place to climb.
