Lynchburg attracted my attention because it is the home of the Jack Daniels distillery. Reading about the history of the original Jack Daniels is fascinating. He purchased his first still in 1863 when he was just 13. Three years later he was the first person to register his distillery with the government making Jack Daniels the oldest registered distillery in the USA.
Its well worth a visit just over an hours drive south south east of Nashville. Although its in a dry county so no samples are given - you have been warned !
Lynchburg is also home to the Tennessee Walking Horse museum. The Tennessee Walking Horse is a breed that has a different gait to a normal horse. The jerking bouncing of a standard horses two by two trot is replaced by a smooth four legged run.
