www.uk-2-usa.com Newsletter 11

October 2003

Welcome to the 11th
www.uk-2-usa.com monthly newsletter.

This newsletter will update you with any recent USA travel information I have come across and uk-2-usa.com web site changes that have occurred in the last month. All feedback is gratefully received about style or content. Click here to send me suggestions for improvements, additions or even things to avoid in future newsletters. This newsletter will be available via e-mail, on the web site or via the associated online uk-2-usa travel discussion group

This will be the last monthly newsletter I produce (is that a muted cheer, a dismayed groan or a disinterested yawn I hear in response ?). There is so little feedback from the readership and it takes so much effort to keep finding content, that I have decided to move this to a quarterly issue. The next issue will therefore be in early January.

Ghost walks in Florida
I've been on a couple of ghost walks in nearby York and they are great fun. I never thought that there could be similar activities in the USA, but here is one set in
Daytona Beach Florida. I've seen it all now !

More hautings Halloween is a much bigger celbration in the USA than here in the UK. Although we seem to be catching up fast with the 'trick or treats' and the costumes for the kids. If you happen to be in the states on All Hallows Eve, try this site for looking up where to go and be haunted !

Autumn (Fall) colours
Looking ahead to the festive season ?

USA flight price survey

The seasonal effect on prices is again strongly in evidence with the total average return fares:-
for June being £399.77,
for July being £557.94
for August being £577,
for September being £418,
for October being £362, and
for November coming in at £294

The prices in this months survey are for a return adult fare including all taxes departing on 19th November, returning on 26th November.

Opodo comes out on top this month with the biggest number of cheapest fares and the lowest overall cost for the basket of flights studied. e-bookers search engine would not respond when the survey was conducted and so they are not included.

Once again the underlying message is to shop around for the best bargain because the cheapest company for one route is probably not the cheapest company for a different route as shown every month by these surveys.

Web site updates/news

This list details the site changes in the last calendar month.
The changes this month reflect a change in the underlting structure of the site with a master page for each state which will include a geographical map and then individual pages for each attraction listed in the state. This ensures much faster loading than the original pages where all of the information for a state was on one page.

This change was brought about because of user comments.

uk-2-usa.com Competition

Sadly my optimism has been permanently crushed by the low response to the last competition. I only had 3 entries, and Helen was the lucky winner of the draw from my flat cap. A guide book is on the way to her and here endeth uk-2-usa competitions/draws (for quite some time anyway).
