Wyoming Fly Drive Destination
Green River
Green River made a poor impression on me. However, it may well have been because of the
raging fires in the surrounding country during the summer of 2000 that left a heavy smell of
burning in the air and a hazy view.
That apart the town was too big and spread out with rundown railyards through the centre for me
to be attracted to it.

The one very nice spot was expedition island where Colnel Wesley Powell set off to navigate the Green and the Colorado rivers. Its a very nice park area with some of the history to read on plaques at the side of the walkway around the island and a nice play area for the kids.
This plaque in the photograph marks the historic significance of this place.
