Washington Fly Drive Destination
Highway 20 - the North Cascades Highway - was built in 1972 and drives through the middle of the national park. Take the turnoff to the overlook at Washington Pass to see this dramatic view.
click on this thumbnail to view a large panoramic view of washingtom pass in its full grandeur.
The only way to actually see the park properly is get out of your car and hike as there are no roads at all into this unspoilt wilderness. If like us you dont have the time to do this, still make the car journey because the views are wonderfull.
Click on this thumbnail to download another panoramic view, this time of Ross Lake in the middle of the park. The vivid green water is due to suspended minerals from glacier meltwater.
The road is closed by snow from around mid november to mid april so you will have to pick the correct time of year to experience this wonderful place.
