This was the first section of the holiday. It was followed by a flight to Los Angeles and a stay in disney Land. We had looked at flying into Rapid City, but that was much more expensive and so we chose to fly to Denver and drive up.
Day 1 Flew to Denver Day 2 Drove to Chadron Nebraska. A long 350 mile drive.
Day 3 Drove to Wall via Badlands National Park a full but enjoyable day driving 230 miles
Day 4 Drove to Deadwood a relatively short drive of 95 miles.
Day 5 Stayed in Deadwood.
Day 6 Drove to Spearfish via Devils Tower Wyoming a drive of 150 miles
Day 7 Stayed in Spearfish
Day 8 Drove to Rapid City a drive of just over 50 miles. We chose to move around the area until day 15. None of these days was much driving just a chance for us to move on and see some more of the wonderful blackhills region. You could just as easily pick one place to stay and see everything we saw in easy day trips.
Day 9 Stayed in Rapid City
Day 10 Drove to Silvan Lake
Day 11 Drove to Custer
Day 12 Stayed in Custer
Day 13 Drove to Keystone via Mount Rushmore
Day 14 Drove to Hot Springs
Day 15 Drove to Cheyenne via Fort Laramie a drive of 260 miles.
Day 16 Stayed in Cheyenne
Day 17 After a shopping expedition in Cheyenne, drove the 50 miles south to Loveland
Day 18 Drove to Boulder via Rocky Mountain National Park around 100 miles driven in the day.
Day 19 Drove to Denver airport to fly onto Los Angeles
