Klamath Falls
Klamath Falls is the nearest decent sized town to Crater Lake which is why we stayed there. Like many such overnight stops we've had at places just because they were on the way to or from a place we were visiting, Klamath Falls was a place that gave the impression you could spend a pleasant few days there.
The town sits on the southern end of Klamath Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Oregon going some 30 miles north of town. Almost half of the drive to Crater Lake from Klamath Falls is alongside Klamath Lake. The area/town/lake is what we call a 'Huntin, Shootin, Fishin' type area. A place to go if you like the great outdoors.
