Arizona Fly Drive Destination
Globe

Globe was a one night stop for us on our way from Tucson to
get up to see the painted desert and the petrified forest. We were pleasantly surprised with what there was to see around the towm. Unfortunately our itinery did not allow time to see the sights. Coolidge Dam, Lake Roosevelt and the Apache Indian reservation are all close by.
This picture is as we left Globe heading for Apache country !
One of the noticeable features of the town was a huge very geometric colourful hill by the side of the main road. This turned out to be a slag heap from copper mining carried out in the vicinity. Much more colourful slag heaps than around the coal mines in my native Yorkshire !
